Re-examining Maptools. D&D's been on the backburner lately... but then I found a copy of the old Grey Box Forgotten Realms campaign set.

Avatar... in 3D

Saw Avatar again last night, this time in 3D.

I enjoyed it more than the last time, but still not quite BAM ZOWIE. Maybe I should have held out for 3D for the first time.

What a weekend!

Wow. Thirty drawings for design three? THIRTY?! Egad. AND a paper? That was a rough weekend. Especially when I find I went way overboard on how developed some of the drawings needed to be.

That's me, the art overachiever.

Wow, they really tightened up the attendence restrictions since last semester. Miss four days and you fail? Hey, better not get SICK or anything.

Saw Avatar recently.. finally. I was originally very excited about it, wanted to go on opening day, etc etc. But the more I saw, the less I wanted to see it... which isn't my usual pattern.

Rebecca wasn't interested at all - she saw the trailer, saw the "white man wants to drive peaceful natives away from their land to exploit it" angle, declared it hackneyed, and that was that. But then her brother announced he wanted to see it for his birthday, so we went. Originally we were going to see it in 3D, but after I reminded everyone that it's a long-running movie, we settled for non-3D. The theatre was empty when we got in... only a few more people shoed after we did... so seating wasn't an issue.

I really wanted to like this movie. But it seemed to fall short every time. The music wasn't memorable (alas), it felt like the movie dragged in the middle, and the climax of the movie just didn't grab me the way it should have . From a TECHNICAL aspect, it's an amazing movie. What Cameron has accomplished is huge, built on the shoulders of WETA. But I just wasn't moved, like I should have been. I don't know what I would have done differently. I... dunno. Meh.

It's been too long already

After too long a delay (work's been exhausting lately)... Drawn pretty early in last semester. A bit sketchy, which makes sense, since it's from my school sketchbook. Went through a series of plant sketches in working towards a project that came later in Design.

Slipped a bit...

Three days without posting, whups! More later, after work. Including Avatar thoughts.
